Skyclad's 1991 debut album was a
mixed bag of precision and slicing thrash mixed with a hint of
their future, a blended sound of thrash, speed metal and folk
influence. The old English word Skyclad come from "sky clad",
which literally means "wearing the sky", which means naked. The
word was used how pagan warriors went into battle. Singer Martin
Walkyier explains the name more like nakedness in the sense of
being honest and not hiding behind anything. The new album "Folkemon"
has seen them "chilling out" and going in a more folky/new-age
direction.
